SMS Opt-In and Consent

Last updated: August 25, 2026

Sous is an AI meal-planning service operated by SOUS AI LLC. Sous delivers weekly meal plans, grocery lists, and check-ins by text message. This page documents exactly how a person consents to receive those messages, and how they stop them.

Summary

  • Brand: Sous (SOUS AI LLC)
  • Sending number: +1 (833) 497-0577
  • Opt-in type: Web form, express written consent, confirmed by SMS one-time passcode (double opt-in).
  • Where consent is collected: textsous.com/onboarding — the “What's your number?” step, reproduced below.
  • Consent is never bought, rented, or shared. A person can only opt in by entering their own number and confirming a code sent to that number.

Consent language shown at the point of opt-in

This text appears directly beneath the phone number field and above the submit button. Submitting the form is the act of consent.

By continuing, you agree to receive recurring automated text messages from Sous at this number (weekly meal plans, grocery lists, and check-ins). Message frequency varies. Consent isn't a condition of purchase. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. See our privacy policy and terms.

The opt-in flow, in order

Screens 3 and 4 are where consent is given and confirmed. Screens 1 and 2 are shown for context — they are the account steps that precede the SMS opt-in and collect no phone number.

Context

1. Sign in

A person creates an account with an email address or a Google/Microsoft sign-in. No phone number is collected here and no messages are sent.

2. Welcome

The first onboarding screen explains that Sous plans meals and texts the plan. Still no phone number, still no messages.

3. Phone number and consent disclosure

The person types their own mobile number. The full consent disclosure sits immediately below the field and above the Send verification code button — brand name, message types, message frequency, “consent isn't a condition of purchase,” message and data rates, STOP and HELP instructions, and links to the privacy policy and terms. There is no pre-checked box and no bundled consent: pressing the button is the affirmative act.

4. One-time passcode (double opt-in)

Sous sends a six-digit code to the number entered and will not enroll the number until the code is entered back. This proves the person possesses the handset, so a number cannot be signed up by someone else.

5. What to expect

Immediately after the number is verified, Sous restates the message types the person just agreed to: setup questions, a weekly schedule confirmation, the meal plan and grocery list, and occasional check-ins.

6. Confirmation and sending number

The person is shown the number Sous texts from, +1 (833) 497-0577, and invited to save it as a contact. Every Sous message comes from this one number.

7. The first text Sous sends

The first message identifies the brand and carries the required disclosures: “Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.”

Sample messages

The first message and the HELP reply are fixed text, reproduced here exactly. Meal plans and grocery lists are composed for each household, so the third example is representative rather than verbatim.

  • First message after opt-in: “Hey Chef! I'm Sous — your new sous-chef. You run the kitchen; I'll handle the planning: a weekly meal plan and grocery list built around your taste and your schedule. I have a few questions to ask before we're cooking. Who are we cooking for? How many people? Any kids? Any picky-eater intel? All in one go is perfect. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.”
  • Reply to HELP: “Sous: We text you weekly meal plans and grocery lists. For help, email support@textsous.com or visit https://textsous.com. Reply STOP to cancel. Msg & data rates may apply.”
  • Weekly plan (representative): “Here's your week, Chef. Mon: sheet-pan chicken thighs with charred broccoli. Tue: black bean tacos. Wed: you've got a 7pm thing, so 20-minute garlic shrimp pasta. Want me to swap anything before I build the grocery list?”

How to stop messages

Reply STOP to any message from +1 (833) 497-0577 to opt out. STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, and QUIT are all honored: delivery to that number is blocked at the messaging-service level, the standard opt-out confirmation is returned, and Sous itself sends nothing further. Reply START to opt back in, or HELP for support information. You can also request removal of your number or deletion of your account and data by emailing support@textsous.com.

Message frequency varies with your plan and how often you reply. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
